چکیده

195 It is well known that in humans, significant changes in cognitive function, postural control and motor coordination appear with age /1/. Age-related memory decline has been described in non-human primates/2/as well as age differences in activity patterns/3/. To obtain a better understanding of age-associated changes in these functions, we have begun studies that include: assessment of visual recognition memory using a delayed non-matching-to-sample

Micro-MRI Study of Cerebral Aging: Ex Vivo Detection of Hippocampal Subfield Reorganization, Microhemorrhages and Amyloid Plaques in Mouse Lemur Primates

Mouse lemurs are non-human primate models of cerebral aging and neurodegeneration. Much smaller than other primates, they recapitulate numerous features of human brain aging, including progressive cerebral atrophy and correlation between regional atrophy and cognitive impairments. Characterization of brain atrophy in mouse lemurs has been done by MRI measures of regional CSF volume and by MRI m...

Impaired fasting blood glucose is associated to cognitive impairment and cerebral atrophy in middle-aged non-human primates

Age-associated cognitive impairment is a major health and social issue because of increasing aged population. Cognitive decline is not homogeneous in humans and the determinants leading to differences between subjects are not fully understood. In middle-aged healthy humans, fasting blood glucose levels in the upper normal range are associated with memory impairment and cerebral atrophy. Due to ...

Ursolic acid: a versatile triterpenoid compound in regulating the aging

We and other studies have elucidated single molecules that can attenuate aging and extend longevity. Indeed, these molecules could prevent age-associated diseases simultaneously and probably extending healthy-life spans. In this review, we discuss recent advances, controversies, opportunities and challenges surrounding ursolic acid (UA) in relationship with aging. In this regard, UA also known ...

Anatomical Variations of Circle of Willis in 57 Human Brains

Purpose: The circle of willis is responsible for blood supply of brain, which may suffer from anatomical variations. These disturbances can lead to aneurysm or even arterial rupture. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the anatomical structure of the cerebral arteries forming the circle of willis in adult cadavers. Also, cerebral versus non- cerebral versus non-cerebral arterial walls wer...
